Gavin Dickson

Chief Photographer - Express and Star, the biggest-selling
regional evening newspaper in Britain.

" A Cameramac is a vital part of my photographic equipment, and is used on a frequent basis. Whilst photographing football matches, the Cameramac allows me to keep my eye on the action rather than worrying about keeping my camera dry. I have tried several different camera covers and the Cameramac is the only one that really works."

Teaching landscape photography is not just about fair weather photography, especially in the Lake District! I have been using Cameramacs for about 8 years now and not only have they allowed me to keep taking photographs when the weather turns nasty, but they have undoubtedly saved me a fortune in camera repairs and written off cameras. I often say to my guests, “there is no such thing as bad weather….only different types of lighting”.

I love the subtle tones that rainy weather produces – both in the landscape environment and in the close-up world. The protection offered by the Cameramac is second to none. Firstly, its made-to-measure design means that it fits the lens perfectly – even with a large bellows lens hood attached – it also works perfectly with my Lee Filter system. Moreover the new design of the rubber seal around the eyepiece seals the join perfectly, keeping rain out and offers a clear, uninterrupted view through the eyepiece – as opposed to many rain covers which make the user view through a thick sheet of clear(ish) plastic. The opening under the Cameramac allows full access to all camera and lens controls, and the viewing windows are positioned to give a clear view of the LCD and top plate panels to keep camera operation simple. In short, a simple, effective, well designed product. My list of equipment needed for landscape photography is simple: Camera, lenses, filters, tripod and Cameramac.

A measure of how good the Cameramac is, is the fact that many of our guests own a Cameramac themselves by their second visit to us.

Sports photographer working for the Press Association

"Being a sports photographer in Britain means I'm often working in wet weather conditions. Using a Cameramac cover enables me to concentrate on the event rather than worrying about protecting my camera and 300mm or 400mm lens from the elements. I regard my Cameramac as an essential piece of equipment that takes up little space and is easily tucked into a laptop bag ready for when the clouds open."
